So I'm writing this on Friday August 10 and things have improved greatly. Let me fill you in on some of the great things we have done! Saturday August 4 - Our Wedding Anniversary After sleeping late, we began our day with a walk through a local weekend market across the street from our hotel. They had music, lots of local crafts, a wide variety of food booths and souvenirs galore. We also saw some giant vegetables which are the result of long summer days and a short growing season. One of our favorite booths was souvenirs that make fun of Texas. We didn't buy anything there but the guy had some great t-shirts. He was also quite a character! After that, we walked over to the visitor center for some info and got on a city-wide trolley tour. Friday August 3 We usually take Lyft to the airport. A couple of days before we were to leave on our trip to Alaska, there was a story on the local news that Uber and Lyft might stage a work slow-down on the day were would leave. Fingers crossed! No problem with Lyft after all. We got the same driver we had last time we went to the airport. He lives in our neighborhood. He's from Long Island and he talks a lot. He's very nice. It's good to see a familiar face. We get to the airport more than 2 hours before scheduled departure, which had already been delayed 10 minutes before we left the house. When we arrive at the airport, it's been pushed back 25 minutes from original departure. We are to layover in Phoenix - originally 1 hour 10 minutes. We're not feeling real good about this. John left his phone and wallet at the security station but got it back quickly. We had lunch and waiting to see how things would work out....
